WHY HAKUBA?
Hakuba skiing
Hakuba truly is the heart and soul of Japanese skiing and one of the hidden gems of the ski world.
Unlike other Japanese resorts, only Hakuba offers the unique combination of soaring 3,000 meter peaks and bottomless snowfall that make Japanese skiing legendary.
There are 7 major resorts, including the world-class Happo-One, home to the 1998 Winter Olympic downhill races, as well as numerous smaller more specialized ski areas.
Whether you are an expert, a backcountry thrill seeker, or a parent wanting to teach the kids on the bunny slopes,
Hakuba will give you, your family and your friends everything you could want in a ski vacation.
Hakuba Village
The Village of Hakuba is a visitor's dream. It is a small, breathtakingly beautiful village and home to some of the friendliest locals you'll ever meet.
By day Hakuba offers traditional Japanese arts and crafts, ancient temples, local museums, scenic spots as well as great shopping.
By night you can eat at fine restaurants and dance the night away to live music. Several natural hot springs (onsen) are available from mid-morning to night.
Thanks to the efficient network of shuttle buses and taxis, Hakuba is an exceptionally easy place to get around in and one you will long remember.
WHY HAKUBA POWDER LODGING?
Hakuba Powder Lodging has one simple goal, and that is to give you a ski vacation you won't forget.
We see ourselves as a lodge with a difference. Hakuba Powder Lodging is more than just a place to stay;
we offer you the Hakuba experience. With our warm lodge, friendly service and wealth of local knowledge,
we'll do our best to make you want to return to stay with us.
Nick, Hiro and Hannah
The lodge is owned and run by the Kowal Family: Nick, Hiroko and little Hannah. Growing up in Canada,
Nick realized that skiing was the best way to help pass the long cold winters.
His skiing turned from a simple hobby to a passion and soon the challenges and beauty of skiing became his primary focus.
His love of the sport eventually brought him to Japan in search of the perfect winter.
It was in Japan that he met Hiroko who was just as addicted to skiing as he was.
Together they skied and traveled through many different countries searching for the place to call home.
Finally in 2004 the search for the perfect ski destination came to an end.
Together with Nick, Hiroko decided to make Hakuba their full-time home.
There are few who know and understand Hakuba or Japan's on- and off-piste like Nick and Hiroko do.
Having Skied over 50 resorts in Japan Nick and Hiroko have a unique knowledge of Japanese ski culture and the resorts.
Nick and Hiroko are some of the best skiers in the Hakuba area.
Nick is a Level-2 licensed ski instructor and aspiring backcountry ski and snowboard guide.
He has also been featured on various magazine covers and is friends with some of today's top pro skiers.
Hiroko is a powder expert who routinely helps female guests improve their personal powder skills.
Whether you need simple tips about equipment, resort advice or help on multi-day expeditions,
Nick and Hiroko offer all levels of skiers and riders a wealth of skiing know-how gleaned from their extensive personal experiences.
Hakuba Powder Lodging
Hakuba Powder Lodging is located directly between Hakuba Goryu/47 and Happo-One, two of the area's finest resorts. The views from Hakuba Powder Lodging's rooms are some of the best in the valley, and the people who work and stay here create a warm, happy environment.
From the front door you can quickly walk to hot springs, convenience stores, grocery stores, bakeries, bars/restaurants and bus stops.
